November's theme: Decolonizing Fashion
The objective of decolonizing and decentering fashion sits at the heart of what The Fashion and Race Database seeks to do in all of its work. As a concept and practice that has greatly expanded its reach in the past 10 years, we are seeing approaches to decolonizing fashion in literature, academic courses, workshops and social media. But what exactly does it mean (and entail) to “decolonize” fashion?
We invite you to check out our new column called ‘Decolonial Reflections,’ and throughout the month of November, join us as we assemble a collection of resources and programming that explores decoloniality in the realm of fashion, design and beauty.
