What a fine time we had!

Thank you to our FRD subscribers who registered for today’s private Met Costume Institute tour of “Superfine: Tailoring Black Dandyism”! It was wonderful meeting/reuniting with you and being able to treat you to this experience. We had such a diverse crowd in terms of interests and lived experiences, yet we could ALL come together to appreciate the story of Black Dandyism.

My deepest gratitude goes to Dr. Monica L. Miller and Kai Marcel for their tireless work in putting this show together (along with the rest of the curatorial team) and generously offering their intellectual and physical labor to give us an illuminating and memorable experience.

I also want to sincerely thank the staff at the Met Museum this morning for making us feel welcome and accommodated (even taking our group photo!).

These are the kinds of events that get me so excited—when we gather together to explore the history and intersections of why we wear what we wear.
